I have a strange appreciation for the tougher rides. I couldn't make it very far at all today, but really felt the need to try (I'm recovering from a respiratory infection)
This short run exhausted me. But when I feel like I've hit a wall, I think back to those days in the hospital. The grit and endurance that sweet girl summoned, daily. It reminds me why I'm out here. This hard run is nothing compared to what kids who go through treatment for cancer face. It is not the same as treatment for an adult. Not at all. They can do hard things. And so can we, in their honor.
Today was the first ride logged for my newly formed team, which is being sponsored by New Belgium Brewing. I am hopeful we will raise lots of funds to fight childhood cancers. The awareness throughout the company is worth it already. Every mile of this challenge will be ridden on the 35 Year Anniversary Red Fat Tire Bike that the company gifted to me!
