Tribute to Barb: May the water on the sandy beach rise to sooth your feet, May you always have a full cup of hot coffee for warmth, May your bowl of dim sum always be full to give you energy, May you spend endless hours in heaven's archive library to maintain your knowledge, May you have an endless supply of yarn to knit for the needy, May you be appointed master black belt sensei in heaven's Dojo to maintain your discipline, May you enjoy being reunited with departed family members to maintain laughter and happiness, And until we meet again, please save some beer and chocolates for the rest of us.

My Story

5 Aug 2024

This September I am riding for a third year with Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So, I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

This year I will be ridding 400 miles in September in support of all these wonderful and brave kids, and in honor of my sister Barb who passed away from Pancreatic cancer this past May.

I am also riding for brave 8-year-old James who has relapsed high-risk neuroblastoma.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. Your support will change little lives.

I appreciate all of you.

“Bill, thank you for your dedication, determination, and tireless energy, as you work to support the fight against cancer. This dreaded disease that has ravaged our family and so many others, knows no mercy and impacts families regardless of race, gender, faith, political affiliation, or socioeconomic status. Mark and Barb would be grateful for your heroic efforts on behalf of future generations of cancer patients. Be safe...love, Chris”

“Chris, How can I begin to thank you for your generous sponsorship and donation. Because of you I reached my fundraising goal of $2,500. Now I’ve earned my super hero jersey who I am donating to James, the 8 year old boy who I’m riding for this year. In my opinion, these kids are the super hero’s not those of us who are healthy and can do the rides and fundraising. I love you very much.”

“Hi James, Thank you so much for your support for a third year. Thanks to you I exceeded my goal of $2,500 and so far have raised $3,400, my all time high. I earned my Hero jersey, and plan to donate it to James, the 8 year old boy I’m riding for. It’s so hard to hear what these young kids are going through medically, rather than living a normal kid life. Everyday I’m thankful for my health.”

“I am proud to call Bill my friend. His dedication to this great cause is inspiring & selfless. I am more than happy to help him raise $2,500 (or more) to help these children in need. Riding 400 miles in the hot Arizona weather is not for the faint hearted. But, he has the determination and motivation to make it happen. 13+ miles per day in September! Pedal away!”

“Thank you so much Bob for sponsoring me for another year. I plan to keep riding in this event for many years to come even if I have to use an e-bike. I really appreciate your message of encouragement and your support of me over these past three years. You are right about the heat too. It's roughly 15 degrees hotter this year at the same time, than it was 2 years ago when I started riding in this event. I'll be in Pagosa Springs for one week in September which should help. I can always drive down to Tucson too, which is almost 10 degrees cooler than Phoenix. I'll manage again this year with a little more strategy. Take Care, Bill”
