Great Cycle Challenge III! This September I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer. My goal is to ride to Providence, Rhode Island... sort of. I'll be pedaling 400 total miles in September; most of it here in Maryland.

Why? My personal motivation comes from two sources: my love for kids and to support my friends. If you know me, you know that kids are precious to me. Get me in a circle of kids with some books, trucks, or blocks or Legos and I'm totally loving life! So, I'm riding from a sense of my own passion for life that I see in the eyes of children.

I'm also riding in memory of Justin and Gavin, sons of my friends. Justin would have celebrated #7 this year, and Gavin would be 23.

Sadly, both boys died from cancer. I see their faces and the faces of their parents when I feel like sleeping in or skipping out. They fought so hard with such positive energy and love; still their parents are grieving the loss of these fantastic sons. It breaks my heart, and it pushes me on with every mile.

Cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year; 38 children die of cancer Every Week. That's Too Many Too Often!
