Madelyn Carey Shaw

Madelyn Carey Shaw was a spunky, sassy, beautiful little 15 year old child, that was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma at age 9. Ewing Sarcoma is a very rare childhood cancer that wreaks horrible havoc by attaching itself to, usually a big bone, in Maddie’s case, her pelvis and the lungs. This was taken from Team Maddie's FB page: Maddie if you only realized the impact you had on others - the courage, inspiration, hope and love that you brought people day after day just by living the life that you did on your own terms and in your own way. You were stubborn as hell with a sassy attitude to match. As much as that made us crazy we wouldn’t have had it any other way! I ride in this challenge every year because of Maddie and children like her. These kids are strong, brave and no matter how much this evil hurts, they keep smiling and fighting. If we can fight with them and find a cure, how wonderful would that be!?! PLEASE help!

My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

This will be my 10th year for participating in this challenge and I want this year to be my biggest impact.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
