My Story

22 Aug 2024

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

I am also continuing my own fight against lymphoma, I’m riding for myself and the kids.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

    12 Oct 2024

Silver Sneakers is a brutal workout. Sore all over but in it to win it. There’s a stretching class I go to as well and can’t tell which part of me hurts the most. All bearable and definitely good for me! I’m still winning. Received another donation from my longest and dearest best friend! Fighting cancer is the name of the game.

  • Still at it.
    5 Oct 2024

Rode a bit over 2 miles, I just don’t have the stamina. Start up at the gym Monday doing chair and silver sneakers 3x a week and stretch 2x a week. Seeing my old trainer. Gotta get my stamina and core worked up! I’m going to get strong and stay strong.

Picture of me and the grands on our walk abouts on Thursdays, they like it, me too!

    Still at it.

I can do around 2 miles until my legs get noodly, been off the bike a couple years. Chemo melted my muscle and stamina, but I promise, I’ll make my goal, even a round the block 10 times.

Had a treatment this last Wednesday, some don’t bother me, this one did. Recalling seeing littles getting stuff done, is burned in my mind. Feeling better today, almost 1/2 there, I promise I’ll get it, it’s for children.

Slow and steady. Re learning the bike, balance, gears, watching for traffic, realizing I need to find a safer path. Some drivers seem to have unfavorable attitudes towards cyclists. Most are kind, the ones who are not are rude and scary. I don’t need that. Finding peace.

Today the challenge begins. Made the Times Square again in August! I’m proud to support and be able to participate in this. I’ll do my best!

The picture was from a Turkey Roll event after Thanksgiving 2019, last big cycling ride I did before life happened to me. I’m back at it, please support my rides, research works. Love you all.

This was before the race began. The cyclists were lined up in our groups waiting for the flyover. Towards the end we rode through the Air Force base my dad served at and we lived on base. So nice all the soldiers cheering us on, tending our bikes until we got refreshed and continued. Went through again in 2019, I hope to participate again. Life is good if you don’t weaken.

I’m getting ready to cycle in September, just want to continue helping fight this disease. Children should be out playing, not taking treatments to survive. Did this one 2023.

Walking back and forth in the pool helping build up leg muscle, working up to spin class at the gym before I attempt the bike. I think I can, I think I can. Who am I kidding, I know I can. GCC I’m going for it again in 2024.

I did a 25 mile walk in 2022 with my little dog Jelly. She’s gone now but she did her part. 🐾

Together we raised $500 that event.

    5 Jul 2024

This will be my fourth time to participate in this event. This supports research for children’s cancer and I’m proud to do it. I ride for my dear friend Julie Miller, who was my sister in law as well. I witnessed first hand what a true fighter was. I’ve done other cancer walks and have donated to a few, I myself am a current NHL blood cancer patient. I’m winning my battle!

It was super windy that day, funness!
