Earlier this year I attended an event where people volunteered to share a story surrounding their journey in healthcare or on their career path. It was a deeply moving experience and came at a time that I needed some inspiration. All of the stories were remarkable, but one of them resonates with this cause! This story surrounded a child that had come to the end of his delicate life, a mother who was sitting by her child's side in an ICU where everything was quiet, it was evening, machines were no longer beeping, and there was no more buzzing of people, and a doctor who didn't know what to say so just crouched down beside her and was just quiet and present during that time. Many years later, the mother sent a note to let that doctor know how impactful his presence was and that she was truly grateful. Yes, I reached for tissues as he told the story.

This year, I am dedicating my ride in honor of our healthcare workers. Their job is tough and of the utmost importance. Doctors, nurses, advance practitioners, schedulers, coordinators, therapists, call centers, technologists, so many roles, to many to name. You are ALL so important and vital to better health, improved outcomes, compassionate care. THANK YOU for all you do!!

I ride to raise money, acknowledge a need and hopefully build awareness? Cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States with over 15,700 children being diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. The funds raised help kids, and support the Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
