I'm Riding For
Luciana Cantarelli
Today marks so many years without you. These help me piece together memories, feelings, presence of your time on earth. The care, the smell of food formula—that kept you alive for much longer. The silliness of playing with unplugged medical devices (that was her only world, really). Not a day passes without the thought of you; what would it have been like? I just know what it is now. But yet so grateful for all you've taught us. For the moments of sisterhood and for your beautiful presence on those 35 well-lived months you were here, minha Lu.
My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer.
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. My sister was one of them (but in Brazil). My baby sister was 17 mo old when we found out she had a very invasive type of brain cancer and was given two months of life given the stage of it. She lived 1 and a half more years than what was predicted. I think about her every day.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.
