My sister-in-law Linda fought as hard as she could but 2 years ago cancer won. She was one of my biggest supporters when I started doing the challenge and I’m honoring her legacy. She was a brilliant mind and a huge heart.

My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Making adjustments

The first year I did GCC I hammered out my mile on the road. It was right after COVID and it had taken me months to even find a bike.

Last year, we were still displaced by Hurricane Ian. I got my bike tuned up but physically I just wasn’t in a space where I could ride.

Fast forward to this year-back in our home with some new health challenges. But in the meantime I discovered I could ride indoors either with my bike on a trainer or on my recumbent stationary bike. And I love being back doing some miles. The purpose of this wonderful event is to raise money to support research into childhood cancers but I think the participants benefit just as much. I know I have.
