Years ago my nephew was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 6. He spent the next two years of his life living in the hospital one month and at home the next month. This is a horrible disease when it attacks an adult, but when it attacks a child, it’s even more devastating to watch. He has now been cancer-free for over 17 years, but the treatments he had to receive as a child damaged his heart and stole one of the things he looked forward to most in life, playing high school football. His heart finally gave out in 2022 and he had to have a transplant.

Children’s cancer treatments have come a long way, even in the years since he beat it, but there is still a long way to go. He’s certainly one of the lucky ones. Right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
