I'm Riding For
Finley
We're riding for Finley, a 4 year old boy who has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or ALL, at age three in December 2022. Finley’s cancer could not have been prevented, but researchers are working, even with limited funding, to find better treatments for him. Finley lives with his his energetic twin sister named Emerson, his parents, Devan and Becky, three cats and three dogs including his best dog buddy, a yellow Lab named, Bauer. Finley is a typical four year old boy, who loves monster trucks, construction vehicles, swimming, playing with his dog Bauer, and watching his favorite sports team the Green Bay Packers. When he was diagnosed with leukemia, Finley endured a bone marrow biopsy, a lumbar puncture and port placement surgery- all within a couple days at the local children's hospital. This September, Finley will undergo the maintenance phase of treatment, which will last two years. We're riding 300 miles each for him and his family! That's 1200 miles in total. It is enough miles for us to reach Green Bay if we biked the Empire State Trail and stacked all our miles end to end. We're going to give it our ALL to fight kids cancer!
My Story
This September, I am taking part in what will be my 4th Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! We're riding for Finley, an 4 yr old boy diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, or ALL. Finley's a typical 4 year old. He loves monster trucks, construction vehicles, swimming, playing with his yellow Lab named Bauer, and watching the Green Bay Packers. He lives with his energetic twin sister Emerson, dad Devan and Mom Becky, three cats and three dogs. Finley was diagnosed with Leukemia in December 2022 at Christmas and this September is beginning the maintenance phase of his treatments which will last two years.
As a family, Matt (with copilot Bryce), 11 year old Landon and I will ride 1200 miles! The distance from Hartford, CT to Green Bay, WI if you stacked up all our miles end to end.
We're raising money and awareness for the children’s cancer research to help find a cure for things like ALL and other childhood cancers. This is our third year and we’ve raised over $17,000 for the Children's Cancer Research Fund. We're going to give it our ALL for one whole month.
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids, like Finley should be living life, not fighting for it. Your support will change little lives. Lives like Finley’s.
Thank you!
Melissa
