First, I know this is a late start, but was unsure if I could ride after a bad sciatica attack. Yup, the body is acting up, BUT…slow improvement since June. So I’m trying again, though with modest mileage goals. I still need YOU to fight kids’ cancer…and kids with cancer need YOU too.

In September I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge (GCC) to fight kids' cancer! ...my 6th year riding for Liliana, soon to be age 9!...and still fighting! See her age 4 picture on this page.

Why ride and help? Because right now, cancer is still the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

* Funds raised will help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work for needed lifesaving treatments will continue to accelerate the hoped for breakthroughs.

* History: Since 2021, our annual goals have increased and been annually CRUSHED. I've been forever amazed at the generous support from all of you! Please support my rides by making a donation (see note 2) to help give these kids the brighter futures they deserve ...and THANK YOU to all for reading this!

OUR September, 2026 Great Cycle Challenge

First things first: THANK YOU, each and every one of you, for supporting this 6th annual quest. You have embraced our common purpose to get to the root of childhood cancer, by supporting the Children's Cancer Research Fund which allows the top researchers throughout the US to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Our 2026 challenge was to raise $3,500 and ride 125 miles in September. Up front, it felt a reach…

but WE CRUSHED IT, again, and a new record!

But if you like numbers like I do, here are the 2026 statistics and our “rankings” which are compared to only other riders throughout the US who raised funds.

A: Stats for the whole country: - There were 67,130 donations - 122 Riders rode over 1000 miles - The total # of individual rides was 118,225 - 10 kids under age 5 were among them - the GCC website was viewed Over 3 million times - there were 280,811 Facebook posts - Over the 12 GCC years 26,977,887 miles have been ridden raising $93,791,288. For the entire US: This year we together raised $6,905,398.

B: Our results and our rankings: - Of 6,998 U.S. riders, we were 244th. - among the 671 U.S. 6-year legacy riders, we were 18th . - Of the 1,092 U.S. riders in our age group (66-78), we were 74th; and among those 127 “oldies” who are 6-year riders in U.S. we were 6th. Among Connecticut’s 63 riders, we ranked 3rd ; - and among the 8 in CT in our age group, we were 2nd.

Finally....... DRUMROLL… - We are kids-cancer-fighting “Superheros” by raising $4,198, the best ever over our 6-years. Our 6-year total riding miles is 1,011 and YOU (the sponsors) have raised a whopping $18,621. WOW.

- COUNTLESS messages of thanks came from families affected by cancer.

- I add my THANK YOU. Hope to ride and see you next year. On the kids’ behalf, I cry in joy. Thank YOU so much.
