I'm Riding For

Steve

Earlier this year I lost a friend to cancer. I've lost other friends but this one really hit me hard. I knew Steve had cancer when we had lunch in November. We talked about it for about ten minutes. He didn't want to burden anyone or weigh down their spirits. He said that his doctors had a plan and it was a good one. We changed the topic and spent the next two hours talking about life, love, and martial arts. They had a plan and it was going well. Untill… In February the cancer came back - hard. But I didn't know because he didn't want to burden anyone. One Saturday in May, my wife said she heard that Steve passed away. I didn't want to accept it. I mean, they had a plan. I reached out to a friend hoping that it wasn't true. It was. But they had a f'in plan! Soon after, we could see the northern lights. My wife said that was the Valkyries taking him home. I am riding to find a cure for cancer focusing on children's cancer. I 100% believe that children should be living their lives - not fighting for them. Full of potential, children have the most to live for. But I also hope some of the discoveries can help everyone regardless of age. I am just tired of the losses. Don't get me wrong. I have heard the success stories and I will celebrate them until I have no voice to cheer. I know of people currently fighting and I will champion them on until I have no more energy to share. But you better damn well believe I will morn the losses even after I have no more tears left. They had a plan. Time for my plan. Time to saddle up and do everything I can to help kick cancer's butt. Because f*ck cancer!

My Story

This year will be my seventh year and the most difficult. August will be training while recovering from surgery. I'm going to do all I can to help kick cancer's butt.
