I would first like to thank my awesome donors for your thoughtful and generous support totaling $5,082. You are giving children and their families hope for their future. For that I sincerely thank you.
As planned I began my final ride at about 9:00 pm Saturday night not knowing what I had left in the tank to ride another very long ride. My plan was to ride till I couldn’t. I hit that mark at mile 208 excited after 20 hours of riding that I actually reached it.
Thank you all for the kind words of support for my fundraising and my rides. You are the backbone of this event.
♥️Children should be living life♥️
♥️Not fighting for it♥️
After a great month of fundraising I’m very happy to have raised $5000 for children and their families who are struggling with cancer in their lives. A great feeling to know we have made an impact by raising funds from many compassionate friends and associates. In total we have raised over $13,000 in 3 years riding for the kids.
My riding has been limited this year so very long rides have been my choice to make up miles. I feel good about all my rides but riding a double century was the ultimate challenge. It’s why I trained 4 months this year. I’m not sure what is left in the tank but tonight I will pedal as many miles as I can ride to complete my journey.
I will start tonight 9pm planning to finish by 6-7 pm Sunday night.
This ride is for the families who lost a child during September. We carry you in our hearts.
I wish everyone the best and stay safe.
Ok see you at the finish line.💪🏾
Well it’s been raining for several days just as it did last year’s final 2 weeks. I’m bundled up for the crisp chilly night riding. 58*
I may not meet my pledged miles but I feel great about fundraising reaching $5025 not counting my team and still receiving contributions. Having done my first 3 weeks ago it would be a great September if I ride another double.
I’ve learned being physically prepared is great but if not mentally prepared it may be a long miserable experience.
That said I’m here primarily to raise as much funds as possible which I started early so I can focus on riding more.
With just over a week left I’m ready to pedal as are many who sat through days of rain. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the ride.
(Sept 7) As I did on 9/1 I once again set out at midnight 9/7 on a journey to chase the 200 mile mark. It was an extremely long day in the saddle. Riding at night is actually enjoyable with proper lighting. I pedaled 18 hours to reach my goal but I was completely exhausted. It took everything I had left to finish.
To all the great GCC kids we are thinking of you and inspired by your strength. You’re awesome❤️
Sept 1). I started at midnight Saturday night in light rain prepared to ride 200 miles but it went from misty drizzle to light rain about 80 miles in. I was near 102 miles when it started raining hard. I rode another 8 miles to reach 110 and headed to my truck soaked to the bone. For a crappy day I’ll take it. I came up short but I will return to try again. It is my choice to get off my bike when I need a break. Children battling cancer have no break, have no choice so they continue their fight. Please support their plight🙏🏼
I just raised $2,500 to fight kids' cancer and achieved SUPERHERO LEVEL in the challenge! Thank you so much for your support.
