Thanks to my sister who rode my last 67 miles my pledge for 150 miles in September is complete. I never expected a fall and a broken finger could keep you from riding. But it did I am so sorry to everyone who supported me that I did not complete the last 67 miles myself. But being able to stop seems to be a pretty big need when riding. My first broken bone in my lifetime and it has slowed me down more than I expected. I am happy to say it is healing and I can actually (grimace) move it a little. I will be back next year and do all the miles myself. Thank you again for your support you all are amazing! I know that your donations will help fund new cures and treatments for childhood cancer. Thank again.
Well this ride did not go as planned. I for some reason fell and in the process broke my finger. You would not think that was a big deal and it really isn’t but riding requires braking and at least for now I cannot bend it. I am still going yo try and get the last 70 miles in. Sorry if I am letting you down.
Well I hit the halfway mark today! I want to thank everyone again for supporting my ride to raise money for finding cures and treatments for childhood cancers. It will be a wonderful time when children no longer have to fight to live but will be able to play and laugh with no thoughts of this horrible disease.
I have 1/3 of my miles in! The weather this weekend was wonderful. I cannot thank everyone enough for supporting me in raising money for this great cause! 100 more miles to go!
Rode the Swamp Rabbit from Verde to the Zoo. Whew there are some hills! Thank goodness my bike can help me climb them but boy going down can be a bit frightening needing to not hit people dogs and other bikes. Needless to say I rode my brakes all the way down most of the big ones!! Still need more experience with the sharp turns when you cross the street and need to make an instant 90* turn. But it was a nice ride and for a great cause!!
It has officially started! September is here and my first ride is logged! And because of everyone who supported me I just raised $1,000 to help fight kids cancer. The only thing that could be more exciting would be being able to say they have cured cancer! But because of your support the doctors and scientists will have funds to find those cures!! Thank you!
I joined Team Lila today. Along with 1,051 other riders we joined her team to celebrate her birthday tomorrow! She has unfortunately suffered many health issues since she was born. The doctors are running out of options for her. But she is still fighting! So we have joined a team in her name to show her that a lot of people are pulling for her. To date together we have raised over 123K to help fight cancer in her name. She has a beautiful smile. If you have not already supported my ride to fight childhood cancer please consider supporting me now for Lila!
Jackson loves sports and is just one of so many kids fighting cancer. He has Ewing sarcoma and has been fighting it since July of 2023. Your donation will help Jackson and all the other children whose lives are affected by cancer! Together we will help to destroy cancer and one day no children will have to fight for their life. Let’s kick cancer’s butt together!!!
Because of my terrific sponsors WE (that is right all the challenge achievements are not just mine they belong to all of my sponsors as well) have reached the Defender level. Sloane is the Defender Ambassador for 2024
Meet Sloane
This brave 3 year old little girl was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in October 2022.
Since her diagnosis, Sloane has endured 7 rounds of chemotherapy, a 12-hour surgery, radiation therapy, 12 rounds of immunotherapy and more. 💔
She has also experienced 3 separate stays in the intensive care unit.
Sloane's treatment is working and she's now in remission, but her cancer journey is far from over...
And Sloane, whose name means "warrior", will NEVER stop fighting! ✊
I am overwhelmed with all the wonderful support! Thank you so much. Together we will all make a difference. I am so fortunate to have such support I am able to increase my goal to $750. At this rate I may need to increase the number of miles I am committing to!! I am riding 150 miles in memory of Jeff Randel and everyone that my sponsors know who have lost their battle with cancer and those who kicked cancer’s butt and beat it!!!. Please sponsor me and support my challenge to fight kids' cancer and save little lives.
