Rode to work for the longest continuous ride I’ve taken at 80 miles! Really happy that I completed a quest I’ve had since working here.
Although these were bonus miles, these were equally as important to me as all the other miles. Not falling short like last year. Although it was a tough year of recovery, I am thankful to be able to participate for this cause! Thanks again GCC!
After last year’s mountain bike debacle, I am grateful to be able to participate this year! Doing it for these kiddos and myself.
There were months that I questioned ever getting on the trails again, limiting my risk, uncertain if my wrist would hold up.
Well, I challenged myself a few times before this event to prove I could still do it. Then, chose to make my goal mountain bike miles specifically on mtb trails.
Determination took me here and I am grateful to uphold my goal! Thank you kiddos, this fundraiser helped me too!
Completed the unicycle miles by riding around town. Happy to have completed that portion!!
Never done this before! Glad to have a headlamp cause the light went away at mile 7!!! Still fun even though I hadn’t been on this trail in over a decade
I’ve worked in this location for almost three years and finally decided to check out the dog park with the border collies! Finn, appearing as majestic as always while being inspected by the group. Valeska, right for the butt…two very different personalities!
Rode around my parents block before dinner with the border collies Finn and Valeska. It’s nice riding on a dirt section with minimal traffic so the beasties can be off leash.
Biked 4.65 miles with Valeska before the rain and she had a joyful encounter with Leroy in the woods! Leroy was a very happy ten year old enjoying the nice day with his caretakers (and donators) Sue and Howard! Pleasure to meet all three of you!
It’s been 1 year to the day since I crashed mountain biking at Big Bear in California resulting in reconstructive surgery on my wrist. Dr Haase did a great job putting me back together in what was described as “this is the worst thing you could do to your wrist short of…” that sentence was left open ended.
Well, I celebrated that by logging 19 miles of biking at DTE today! Had a chuckle on the way there once I realized today was the day AND I was wearing the same pants and shirt as last year crash!! Haha, tempting fate!! The ride went smoothly and I recognized when small mistakes were adding up and dialed it back responsibly.
It was a great day!
Was invited to participate in the midnight Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics. Started at the Michigan Capitol building steps and ended five miles away in East Lansing. Rode the distance on the unicycle in 50 minutes. Was fun to combine the two charitable events!
Wow, what an alien experience! Pivoting your legs while turning the handlebars and keeping the butt in place was a very foreign feeling. Thank you Dave Skidmore for the wonderful opportunity!
