I'm Riding For

This is my grandmother, Mary Ellen. I miss her so much. She was one of my best friends. I could call her anytime, go visit anytime and she'd make sure I was fed and would talk to me about any and everything. I'm also riding for my stepdad. He had cancer. Found out right in the middle of a move. Lucky for him, he moved to an area with GREAT people to take care of him. His team of doctors and my mom made sure that everything that could be done would be done. If it wasn't for my stepdad's and mother's relationship, and my grandma, I might never known what unconditional love was. My stepdad was a young 20something taking care of kids that were a little less than half his age, but he cared for us like he was a grandpa. His singing, whistling and air drumming are IMPECCABLE. Now, he is a grandpa. And thanks to beating his cancer, he'll be able to watch his grandkids grow up. We are all blessed that he is still with us, that he had the strength to keep fighting, I get to pester him for years to come. If it goes without saying, say it anyway. I'm also thankful for my mother, always being there for all the people in my family who have gotten cancer. No matter what is going on in my mother's life, she always has and makes times for those who are important to her, to take care of them in their time of need. My mother is so strong, she's the best role model. I hope I too can be as strong as her one day.
