My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

James Fitz. marine reserve
26 Sep 2024Finished up my miles by taking the highway north to the James Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Coastal tide pools and trails overlooking the cliff. There was a little education area and a place to see seal pups. Great place to finish riding g and reach my miles goal.

Ride with Tom HMB path

Half Moon Bay
24 Sep 2024Beautiful ride in Half Moon Bay today. Right along the coast that was amazingly clear. I am almost to my goal of riding 200 miles for this challenge. It has taken me to some beautiful places and I’ve met some beautiful people. This challenge has been good for me. Hope you have enjoyed following along.

20 miles
20 Sep 2024With the flat fixed thanks to my husband I went out Hoping to get a 20 mile loop in. Nice day but lots of cars. Great temperature, about 78. Wind 5 with gusts at 11. I haven’t been feeling my best so it surprised me when I still felt good on the way home. I’ll keep plugging away at my goal- almost there!

Mountain bike
19 Sep 2024Today I had planned to ride for about 20 miles but life took over from the minute I was up. By 4 I wanted to move a little bit and I have been considering an eight mile loop on the mountain bike. I hoped its tires were full, they were not, then ended up taking it for a spin. Haven’t been on trail for awhile maybe I’ll go!

Reservoir
17 Sep 2024Today’s ride unfortunately ended with a flat tire less than a mile from home so I walked home. But it was a nice ride into New Almaden on a much cooler day. Lots of turkeys out and about. Hoping to do a longer ride after I fix the flat.

To Morgan Hill and back
11 Sep 2024Today I went out to Morgan Hill and back on the Coyote Creek Trail. Total of about 25 miles. While out there I met Ha a cyclist riding the GCC for Pediatric Cancer Research! I am in the Santa Cruz chapter. He may be in a different chapter, but really happy to run into someone wearing the same jersey!

Marital Cottle Park
11 Sep 2024Today was match day. It seems a lot of people knew this was coming and waited to donate today. Perfect timing! I am so grateful for all the donations I have received and humbled at everyone’s generosity. There are so many places we can choose to put our hard earned money. I am glad people have considered this a cause worth investing in, our kids and their future. Thank you!
Marital Cottle Park had wonderful playground for kids complete with animal statues and wide open spaces. This was a nice flat ride in a wonderful open space designed for the community.

Monterey to 17 mile Dr and back
7 Sep 2024This was a big ride! Great weather for riding. Got to see the Sea Lions in Monterey! You could smell them before you could hear or see them! Asilomar was beautiful as always. 17 mile drive was not the biker friendly path I thought it would be. I felt lost a lot of the time even though I wasn’t. The climb into Carmel was rough with too many cars! But finished in Sand City with ocean views

Sierra ride
3 Sep 2024Today I rode from Murphy’s to Arnold, Ca. It was not very far but 1160 feet of elevation gained on the ride made it a tough one. Everything is harder in the Sierras. Running, swimming, biking. No area is flat for long, and there is just less air up here! It was a good challenge for me this morning! Have a great day everyone!

Start date! Sept 1
30 Aug 2024I am attempting to ride 200miles. I haven’t been biking and circumstances have slowed my usual pace. But I am hoping to ride as far as I can to raise money to fight cancer. Everyone is affected by this disease.
I just went out today and rode around White Pines Lake up in Arnold, Ca. It was more of a mountain bike path. Rocky and slow going and high in elevation but beautiful!
