I'm Riding For
Dad
While I’m riding in September for my friend’s son and all the children fighting cancer, my heart and mind will also be with my dad. We lost him on September 8, 2025, after complications from ampullary cancer. Ampullary cancer is a relatively rare cancer that develops in the ampulla of Vater, where the bile duct and pancreatic duct empty into the small intestine. AWFUL. But is there a cancer that isn't? LOVE AND MISS HIM EVERYDAY!
My Story
This September, I’m taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids’ cancer. 🚴♀️💛
Cancer has unfortunately touched my family and my circle of friends deeply over the years. Most recently, I’ve lost my father, several lifelong friends, and a neighbor to this terrible disease.
However, I’m riding for a different reason...children fighting cancer.
Out of respect for my friend’s family and their privacy, I won’t share many details, but someone very close to me has a child who has been battling cancer. Thankfully, he is doing well and is currently in remission. ❤️
There are simply no words for what I’ve witnessed from the sidelines this past year. The fear, sadness, shock, grief, and mourning of what was and what is. And yet, through it all, I’ve witnessed incredible love, faith, hope, and courage.
Watching a child and their family navigate something so incredibly difficult has stayed with me. Children should be worrying about school, friends, sports, and just being kids, not hospital visits, treatments, and cancer.
That’s why I’m taking on the Great Cycle Challenge this September.
Every year, more than 15,700 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer, and 38 children die from the disease every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
I’m raising funds to support Children’s Cancer Research Fund and their work to develop lifesaving treatments and ultimately find a cure for childhood cancer.
If you’re able, I would be incredibly grateful for your support, whether that’s a donation, sharing my fundraiser, or simply cheering me on as I ride.
I usually do a combination of both inside and outside rides which makes it pretty easy to get to 100 miles in a month!
This one is personal. 💛
Thank you for helping me give kids with cancer a brighter future.
