My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Motivation

As I sit here taking a few minutes to recover after my 3rd and longest bike ride I have taken in years I find myself motivated again! I have had ups and downs with fundraising since Covid with all of my fundraising endeavors, but I have also struggled to keep up with some of the physical goals as well and while I have never strived to be a health nut I have made changes since getting my gout 1st cutting down on consumption of the things that raised my uric acid like burgers, steak, seafood, alcohol and as it intensified and now having it in more places than I have in prior years I take today as a triumph that I was able to double my mileage accumulated and still feel pretty decent am I going to be sore late most likely but it was worth it because those I fight for , fundraise for & in memory of can’t / couldn’t just turn off their illness and I’m thankful that I was blessed enough to be able to do this and continue to fight in all my causes everyday! Thank you for your support and helping push me to do what I can for others!

Motivation & Support

As I get ready to put my bike in my truck after my 2nd ride of 2026 I find myself overwhelmed to the point I figured I would do something I’ve never done before and write a blog! I’m beyond grateful to have the support I have gotten this year as I have already beaten my donation goal for 2026 ! I started doing this in 2019 when I was starting a new chapter in my life and have had some accomplishments and setbacks since. Since starting to ride for Childhood Cancer in 2019 I had a few years with little or no riding due to life, medical issues, or lack of a bicycle , but this year it has more meaning as while I haven’t lost anyone to childhood cancer I do have a family member who has a son who had treatment he is a feisty little warrior! I have lost my 3 family members to Cancer in general, and have a family member fighting cancer and a friend fighting cancer as well as a friend who lost a partner to cancer, and I have also lost a firefighter brother to cancer as well! Cancer sucks and I’m dedicated to kicking Cancers BUTT and I hope you will come along and support me in this journey until it’s done and Cancer in every single form has a cure!
