Official 1st test ride - Commute to my mother's old place of work

Today was a special day for me. I finally followed through with a commitment I had been pushing back for years. My desire to help make Houston Texas safer and more enjoyable to travel on foot, bicycle, or public transit was always washed away by my concern of getting hit by a car. Although my fears are legitimate, delaying my passions any longer is me letting my fears win. In the loving memory of my mother, who passed away in October of last year due to cancer, I will participate in the Great Cycle Challenge.

Throughout the month of September, participants

will log their rides in the app to raise awareness

for children with cancer. My goal is to log at least 20, 10+ mile rides and raise $500.

This cause is close to my heart because of what I saw my mother go through and what my family had to endure, but she did her best to teach us how to be strong. The emotional and financial damage this leaves is difficult to overcome, but with love, community, family, and patience, it gets easier. I am not alone. I can overcome. I can continue to inspire. We ARE Stronger Together!
