I'm Riding For
Niko
This year I am riding for Niko. Niko is a 15-year-old kid who is always on the go. He has a big smile and an even bigger love for hockey. In early February, Niko injured his knee during a hockey game. The MRI showed a mass on the lower part of his femur. This led to a referral to Children’s Oncology at the University of Minnesota. Niko underwent a biopsy, which confirmed he has High-Grade Osteosarcoma…bone cancer. He kicked off chemo in March. He had surgery in July and there will be 3 more rounds of chemo. This picture is from last week, after a particularly rough stretch. His smile says it all.
My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
