My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Ok, I should write something here instead of the auto fill generic reasons for doing this challenge. So here we go. Last year(2025), days before I was riding the 100 mile Pelotonia, I woke up with horrible stomach pain. Since I’m a man, I ignored it (figured it was a stomach bug and would go away). As the day progressed the pain got worse until I couldn’t eat or drink anything. My dad who was in town to be my SAG driver, asked if I wanted to go for a bike ride after dinner I declined. By the time he got back from his ride, I had accepted the fact that something was very wrong in my body (maybe 12 hours late, but hey I got there). We went to the hospital and made it through the emergency department with alarming speed. I was told that I had a tumor that was doing all sorts of bad stuff, and we needed to go to the OR very quickly for emergency surgery. When the dust cleared and the tests were tested it turned out that I had stage 3 colon cancer. After months of chemo and such and realizing, the “cancer sucks” is more than a bumper sticker that one can put on their car, I knew I had to do whatever I could. So in a nut shell that is why I’m doing this.
I will be riding my bike from Cincinnati to Cleveland for the majority of my miles for this challenge, and picking up the remaining miles threw out the month.
Please do what you can share this with as many people as you can, lets raise some money for the kids, because Cancer Sucks and no one should have to suffer let alone kids.

24 Sep 2026I’m writing this from a hospital bed with stuff up my nose and spirits quite low. As it turns out we will not be competing any more of the 500 mile challenge. As some of you know stuff went all you know what up last week when I had to leave a fundraiser early. Now it’s looking like I will be stuck here for an indeterminate amount of time. Again postponed not canceled.
