This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to support my coworker and her daughter Lani who was diagnosed at just two weeks old.

Their story:

Hello! I wanted to share our daughter’s story to hopefully spread awareness and hope. When Lani was just two weeks old, she was diagnosed with infantile fibrosarcoma behind her right eye. With the incredible care at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, they were able to do extensive testing to discover that she had a genetic characteristic in her tumor that aloud for us to treat this disease with an oral medication rather than having to undergo chemotherapy. Lani began treatment at 2 months old and her tumor responded rapidly to this medication. Without the research and development in recent years, Lani would have had a very different journey with her cancer, and we are so grateful for her providers, as well as the research team that were funded by generous givers to develop a medication that can give her quality of life and complete resolution. We are so grateful and SO blessed to be able to tell you now that at eight months old Lani is officially cancer free.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
