This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

In 2019 I signed up as motivation to ride more, pure selfishness. I keep doing it because it’s a great cause. I never explained deeper, to see why this event instead of others. Back in 2014 (I think) I was a match for a man with Leukemia (through the “be the match” program). After about 3 months and a bunch of testing it was determined that I was an almost perfect match. Today, genetically, he is like one of my kids. I did a stem cell donation (not fun!) and he is living life, totally cured! My sister and dad have had cancerous cells removed from their skin. My brother-in-law had esophageal cancer that he beat. An ex-GF beat breast cancer. My aunt has colon cancer and undergoing chemo currently with other treatment in talks. There are more people in my life that cancer has impacted directly, indirectly and passively, but those are the ones that stand out.

Cancer is the wildcard for people. But I want it to be less of a wildcard, for kids especially! Let’s kick kids' cancer's butt! I don’t ride for a specific person, but for all of the kids. I think about how I would feel if one of my boys were to get cancer.
