My Story

Today, September 1st, kicks off the Great Cycle Challenge—my sixth year in the saddle to fight kids' cancer—and it just so happens to fall on a very special day. My niece, Virginia, turns 34 today!

Back in 1994, when she was around two years old, Virginia was diagnosed with leukemia. Watching her face that fight was tough, but she beat it. Around that same time, I started shaving my head for St. Baldrick’s to show solidarity.

Fast forward to today: I'm a bit older, much balder (so the head-shaving is permanently built-in!), and I'm trading the clippers for the pedals.

Knowing Virginia is out there living her life, celebrating another year, and smiling makes every single mile worth it. That’s why I ride—so more kids get the chance to grow up, celebrate their own birthdays, and watch their crazy uncles ride bikes in circles.
