I'm Riding For

Suzanne

Suzanne

On March 4, 2025, my wife Suzanne suffered a severe hemorrhagic stroke that put her in the hospital for a month and required over a year of outpatient rehab. She is still working her program for hours every day, walking five miles, doing balance and vision exercises, and trying to restore her writing and processing skills. She has come so far, many don't even realize that she's had a stroke, but every day is a challenge on some level. So, this one's for you, Suzanne!

My Story

7 Aug 2026

This September, I am again taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! I think this marks the sixth year I have supported this fundraising event.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Thank you all who have so generously given to this cause. Despite a May bike accident and occasional wildfire smoke we are rocking and rolling.

Mahalo, danke schön, muchas gracias, obrigado, merci beaucoup, arigato gozaimasu, kamsahamnida... thank you, Jim

“Chris, I sure appreciate your support. Not far from my mind is/are our cycling adventures on Hokkaido. Did we do one or two trips together? Great scenery along the coastlines; of course, the nightly onsens. Great memories, mi amigo. Again, muchas gracias for your generous donation.”

“Tod, you are so kind to support me in this cycle challenge. Actually, for me, it’s not really a challenge, because I ride a lot anyway. But it feels good to support such a good cause. Thank you for your donation. One of these days we’ll have to catch up, Moloka’i buddy!”

“Kathy, once again you delivered. You are most kind to support me in this Great Cycle Challenge fundraiser. Nothing short of a cable across the road or a 200 plus AQI will stop me from riding those miles, but I bet you knew that. Your donation is much appreciated. Gracias and mahalo.”
