This September I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! This is my first month of riding after being diagnosed with chronic myeloid cancer and so this year is a little special. My cancer is a mild inconvenience relative to what these kids go through in their childhood years and so I consider writing with CML the privilege of a lifetime.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

I'm riding for a distant relative, Mela, who has faced more in her young life than most of us face in a lifetime. She was diagnosed with high risk neuroblastoma in July 2020 and has fought valiantly since day one. I ride for her and all of the other children who fight pediatric cancer every single day.
