I'm Riding For

Shelly

This final week, I’m riding for Shelly. Earlier this week, while delivering the final cabinet to one of our clients, I was wearing my Great Cycle Challenge jersey. Her husband, Art, is a rider too, and he asked me about the challenge. I told him this was my fourth year riding and raising money to help fight childhood cancer. A few minutes later, Shelly slowly made her way upstairs, and Art shared that she is fighting pancreatic cancer. My heart dropped. The Great Cycle Challenge specifically supports children fighting cancer, and that mission remains incredibly important to me. But standing there with Shelly and Art was a reminder that cancer touches far too many people and families. I told them that I wanted to dedicate my final week of riding to Shelly. I know riding a bicycle can’t change what they are facing. But sometimes the only gift we know how to give is the one we have. So these final miles are for Shelly — for strength, hope, better days, and for every family whose life has been changed by cancer. ❤️

My Story

It’s me again… and YES, I’m doing this thing again! 🚴‍♀️🧡

This year marks my 4th Great Cycle Challenge, riding and raising money to help fight childhood cancer.

Why do I keep coming back?

Because kids shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.

They should get to be kids—running, playing, going to school, riding bikes, making friends, driving their parents crazy, and dreaming about what they want to be when they grow up.

Sadly, thousands of children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer every year. Behind every one of those numbers is a child and a family whose world has been turned upside down.

That’s why I keep riding.

With the incredible support of friends, family and our community, here’s what we’ve accomplished so far:

2021 — 267 miles | $5,884 raised

2024 — 362 miles | $5,480 raised

2025 — 467 miles | $5,770 raised

That’s 1,097 miles ridden and $17,186 raised to help fight kids’ cancer. ❤️

And now it’s time to add to that number!

For 2026, I’ve committed to riding another 100 miles and raising $3,000.

The funds raised through the Great Cycle Challenge support Children’s Cancer Research Fund and their work to develop better, lifesaving treatments and ultimately find a cure for childhood cancer.

Every mile I ride and every dollar donated represents a little more hope for these kids and their families—and a future where fewer children have to face this disease.

So here we go again! 🚴‍♀️

Final Week of my 2026 Great Cycle Challenge

Today I rode a little over 10 miles, bringing my September total to 104 miles.

That means I have officially reached my original riding goal of 100 miles.

And thanks to an incredible group of friends, family, clients and supporters, I’ve also reached my $3,000 fundraising goal.

But with seven days still left in September, I’m not quite ready to stop.

This is my fourth year participating in the Great Cycle Challenge, and over time riding has become much more than simply collecting miles. Mountain biking has taught me that 10 miles on dirt — climbing, descending, navigating rocks, roots and technical terrain — can be a pretty big day. I can’t ride every day, but I still have two rides planned this weekend and hope to add another 20–25 miles before September comes to an end.

This final week also has a very special meaning.

Earlier this week I learned that one of my clients, Shelly, is fighting pancreatic cancer. I told Shelly and her husband, Art, that I wanted to dedicate these final rides to her.

So I’m not setting another mileage goal or another fundraising number.

No new finish line.

I’m simply going to keep riding, keep raising what I can, cross my fingers… and say **pretty please**.

If you’ve been thinking about making a donation, I would be hugely grateful for one final push.

Every additional dollar supports research and better treatments for children fighting cancer — giving them more chances for birthdays, bike rides, school days and all of the ordinary moments that become incredibly precious when cancer enters a family’s life.

We’ve already reached the goals.

Now let’s just see how strong we can finish.
