There are too many people among my friends and family, both adults and children, who have fought cancer or are currently fighting cancer. The most recent is a young great niece, who lived only 3 short years. This is a Good and Necessary Cause!

My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! This year, I am riding for #TeamJoeStrong! Joe was just an average 3rd grader when he got the diagnosis that so many children continue to get. We desperately need research to help prevent and mitigate these diagnoses! That's why I am riding on Joe's Team this year.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Of those who survive, many undergo very difficult medicine regimes that are physically difficult and expensive. We need to do what we can to fund research so better and more inexpensive treatments can be found, so more of these children can enjoy childhood.

Kids should be enjoying life, not fighting for it. Parents should be able to enjoy it with them, too!

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund in their quest for a cure.

My Challenge

Paula’s 2024 GCC effort!

Today is the last day of September. We have about two weeks to get the final donations in.

Unfortunately, I had some setbacks that interfered with my ability to meet the mileage goal I had set for myself, and I have reduced my goal to 50 miles, as a result.

Just because I have had some health troubles during the month of September is NO Reason for the charity to go wanting. You can STILL DONATE!!

I am recovering nicely, and my bicycle is in need of a tuneup—it is making a concerning noise with each revolution of the wheels. So I am planning to take it in to the shop this week.

The children who are battling cancer ALSO have had their setbacks during the month of September. And the Children’s Cancer Research Institute is working to find ways to mitigate those setbacks and find effective, livable treatments and cures for the cancers that plague the younger set.
