My Story

31 Aug 2026

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? First, I am a recent survival of rectal cancer. I am one month since the removal of my ileostomy bag, that I had for four months after they removed a very large tumor. I feel very blessed and lucky to have survived. But I could have not done it by myself, without the support of my friends, family, and doctors that truly cared. So, in gaining my muscle and mobility back, I had already chosen bike riding. It was my good fortune that the timing of this challenge was perfect and exactly what I needed to continue my journey and give back to the children and their families.

More importantly, I am doing this for the children. Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

Had challenges this week, but I will definitely log more miles next week. The rain the last couple of days and the humidity didn't help much either. Feeling better with each ride.

    3 Sep 2026

May have pushed myself on the first day, and I had rode a couple times leading up to Sep 1st. Anyway, I had some cramping and lack of sleep on Tuesday night....and was convinced to rest my legs and reminded I do not have nearly all my strength back yet.

Felt good this morning though and went for a shorter and slower ride this morning. No pictures because I completed my ride before the crack of dawn. Got to test and verify my front and tail lights on bike , which worked fine!!

    1 Sep 2026

It was getting hot fast this morning, so I wanted to get some miles this morning and hopefully a couple more this evening. We will see.

Trying to come up with loops to ride near the house. I now have a 2.5, 3, and 3.4 mile loops saved so I can a get specific number of miles to maintain my goal.

Nice day for a ride though, still trying to Not over do it.
