My Story

This September, I am again taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

My Challenge

    Just completed my last portion of my mileage goal of 100 miles for this year - had to do all on an indoor recumbent due to doctor restrictions on riding with a spinal fracture.

    Unfortunately I had to reduce my fundraising goal as promised donations didn’t occur. I hope next year is better all around.

    Kudos to everyone who did donate this year - you are heroes to those kids fighting cancer!!!

  • Riding despite challenges

    Recovering from lumbar surgery (fracture) in a hard brace that won’t be removed until October 2nd, at the earliest, has kept me from riding a regular bicycle. I have obtained an indoor recumbent bicycle, approved by my physical therapist, and will attempt to hit my mileage goal with it. Harder than I initially anticipated.

Even though he broke his lumbar area in July, had surgery with fusion of the L2 up to L5 and had been through rehab and is going through PT at home, his desire has not wavered.
