Most of us have either been affected or know someone who has been affected by cancer. We have all seen the difference that having support makes in fighting this terrible disease. Please join me this September in supporting this cause. Whether it’s a donation, words of encouragement, or prayers, every little bit helps.

This is a cause that's close to my heart, and I've been a champion of children's cancer initiatives since 2006. I am raising funds through my challenge to support the Children's Cancer Research Fund. This supports researchers, allowing them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and work towards finding a cure for childhood cancer.

    With the severe weather headed our way, I figured today would be a good day to dig deep and complete my mileage goals. I pulled 50 miles out of the bag this morning, and considering where we are in the challenge, I'm surprised I made it. As always, I'll keep riding as long as the weather permits.

    As September and Childhood Cancer Awareness Month winds down, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and generosity. This ride has been a labor of love for me over the past eight years, and as you can tell, it is something I'm passionate about. I wanted to take a moment to share how your generous support helps the Children's Cancer Research Fund:

    With about 4 percent of federal funding available for research, your support helps fund innovative ideas and propels research forward, improving outcomes for children.

    Thanks to your support, the CCRF helps with the following:

    - Launch innovative ideas with seed grants for innovative research that holds great promise but does not yet qualify for more funding.

    - Introduce clinical trials that lead to new treatments and drugs.

    - Fill funding gaps that can slow down or halt potentially lifesaving projects.

    - Train the next generation of researchers.

    - Foster collaboration and share information to accelerate promising discoveries.
