I'm Riding For
Thomas Rouse
This year I am riding in honor of all of the kids in the fight and for my dear friend, Thomas Rouse. He was diagnosed in April 2024 with angiosarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. He courageously fought this terrible disease and won the victory when Jesus welcomed him to his eternal home on September 6. I am proud to ride in honor of him and all of the kids.
My Story
I am excited to ride again in the Great Cycle Challenge! This is my eighth year participating, and I look forward to riding again to help in the fight against children’s cancer!
Cancer has impacted many of my friends and family and is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
Funds raised through my challenge support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

My Challenge

27 Sep 2026We started our ride early today to get it done before the winds got to be too much. Lynn did a great job navigating us around the countryside. There were a few headwind and uphill challenges, but we had an awesome ride in spite of the conditions! It was my longest ride of the Challenge! I am so thankful for all of his support and encouragement! 🙏🙌❤️
While riding,my thoughts were of all the kids currently fighting cancer. I saw a local news segment about a 5-year old boy, Tucker Honeycutt, who will be undergoing surgery for a brain tumor on Monday at Duke. Please keep him, his family and those caring for him in your prayers. 🙏❤️🩹🙏
I have 50 miles remaining and will hopefully finish on Tuesday! Let’s finish strong for these brave warriors in the fight! 🙏🚴♀️🙌

24 Sep 2026Today’s ride was another good trainer ride. It was a fast, flat course, but it was a lot of hard work (and fun)! I added another 17 miles today! I was thinking of all the kids pushing hard in their fight against cancer, and it motivated me to push myself! 🚴♀️
