I'm Riding For

Thomas Rouse

This year I am riding in honor of all of the kids in the fight and for my dear friend, Thomas Rouse. He was diagnosed in April 2024 with angiosarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. He courageously fought this terrible disease and won the victory when Jesus welcomed him to his eternal home on September 6. I am proud to ride in honor of him and all of the kids.

My Story

I am excited to ride again in the Great Cycle Challenge! This is my eighth year participating, and I look forward to riding again to help in the fight against children’s cancer!

Cancer has impacted many of my friends and family and is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

Funds raised through my challenge support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Today I had another indoor ride. I added another 13 miles. Not long after I finished my ride, we were notified that Thomas’ battle was over and he is now healed and with Jesus. He has valiantly fought this terrible disease for over two years. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers. 🙏

I couldn’t let the first day of the GCC go by without logging some miles. It was too hot outside so I had an indoor ride on the trainer. I haven’t ridden since last year, and I wasn’t sure how much I could do. I was happily surprised to get 12 miles! 🙌

Life is a bit different this year. I am caring for my Mama as she recovers from a heart attack. Since my time is limited, I have reduced my mileage goal. I am happy to be back in the saddle again riding in support of these brave warriors in the fight! Please keep me and all of those in the fight in your prayers this month. Let’s GO! 🚴‍♀️🙏🙌
